Clients are becoming more accustomed to seeing their buildings and spaces in 3D. However, much of the mainstream lighting design software - (having been ahead of this curve 10 years ago) - is now lagging behind visualisation tools used by some of the leading Architects... unable to handle complex models or surfaces successfully.
To address this we have been working with bespoke software, based on proven calculation engines, and integrating these tools with gaming engines, virtual reality tools and interactive images - to allow our clients to experience their spaces in much more immersive, responsive and useful ways.
This provides us with some excellent presentation tools to convey and showcase our clients buildings and spaces, but also useful opportunities for design integration - to check deliberate and indirect lighting effects , allowing us to refine and improve designs at an earlier stage.
We embrace a combination of face to face time and remote working and make use of physical sketching, calculations and verifications software’s, and often Virtual Reality or Immersive Environments and Physical mock-ups. We arrange physical and digital lighting workshops to share key information and develop successful designs - we can work together in 3D - share models (size, shape, positions, appearance, lit effect) and inform physical mock ups, to test buildability, access arrangements, lit effect and appearance.
The list of software we use is extensive - from visualisation and rendering tools, to analysis + calculation, content generation and pixel mapping. We also have access to some funky lighting equipment tools that can help our clients to visualise and understand the impact of intensity, colour/colour temperature and quality of light on the surfaces and materials used in their projects.
